The Head of Ecumenical Committee in ESOCS Abuja Province who doubles as the FCT Chairman of the Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Special Senior Apostle (Dr.) Osas Abu Agbonavbare led the delegates from ESOCS Church and the OAIC to the event which had in attendance
According to the Chief Host, the event is aimed at lightening up Unity, Peace and Progress in Nigeria as well as Christian community.  There were Christmas Carol renditions from the Professor Igwe Laz Ekwueme Choral Orchestra and the Nigerian Police Band. A word of exhortation was taken by His Eminence John Cardinal Onaiyekan.
The event culminated with the cutting of the cake and then lighting of the Christmas tree which was done by the First Lady of Nigeria, Her Excellency, Dame (Dr.) Patience Goodluck Jonathan, supported by selected personalities.

Christmas is not the only reason why many people in Spain look forward to the end of the year. Another reason is that annually, thousands win huge sums of money from El Gordo, meaning the 'The Fat One' in Spanish.

It is one of the largest prizes in lottery. As the day of the draw approaches, a lottery fever grips Spain and millions of people join lengthy lines to buy lottery tickets for a chance to win a share of The Fat One. In 2012, the equivalent of about N500 billion was shared among winners.

In Nigeria, El Gordo also takes place, except that participation is not open to the public, but restricted to a select few; top politicians, serving and retired military officers, traditional rulers and other elite. It has no fixed time, but comes up as politically expedient. The funds are not voluntarily contributed by the public through the purchase of tickets, but taken out of state coffers.

Nigeria's next 'Fat One' will be in 2015 - with a prize of at least US $2billion. Not surprisingly, this has already triggered huge levels of excitement.

It was Niger state governor Babangida Aliyu, during his political brawl with Jonathan and the PDP (in what is no more than the first salvo in the early skirmishes in the battle for 2015), who taunted President Goodluck Jonathan by revealing that he knew of the existence of a list of 400 Northerners that had been penciled on a 'fat list' to be 'persuaded' to look the other way when the president's electoral machinery overrides the region and retains power in 2015.

Even to Nigerians, who probably have the toughest shock absorbers in the world, it must have sounded like a below-the-belt attack on the president. However, the list not only exists, but has been used by successive administrations to bribe, cajole, appease, or all of those failing, threaten people to conform.

Governor Aliyu might have added an extra zero, but a list of 40 prominent Northerners actually exists. Each is to be given US $5 million to buy their silence and therefore complicity, in whatever the president, his party and INEC do to remain in power.

Listing prominent Nigerians on a 'fat list' has always been an instrument of government. It may be in form of a political appointment, oil block, humungous contract, fuel import license or raw cash - preferably in American dollars. The list often includes well-known politicians, traditional rulers, generals, religious and community leaders, rabble rousers and even 'militants'.

For some, having their names on the list of 'fat ones' has become a do-or-die affair; others have exceptionally mastered the art of belonging to the list - by falling over themselves to reveal secret meetings or issues affecting the president, or fabricating evidence of conspiracy against government. In return, their names are a certainty all lists, allowing them to sustain expensive lifestyles with their eye, ear sand lip service to any government in power. The rewards can be very fat.

The last ten years have seen many 'fat' lists: Olusegun Obasanjo oiled the machinery of his re-election in 2003 with a 'fat list' containing the names of prominent people across Nigeria who got a slice of the action. Many of the same Northerners now shouting to high heavens against Jonathan were on that list and smiled to the banks as they outdid themselves to deliver the region to Obasanjo.

Later that year, the organizers of the 8th All Africa Games also had a list of 'fat ones'. Anyone with a connection to government - real or assumed - got contracts, as did their wives and relatives, in addition to traditional rulers and other influential people. In the end, Nigeria staged one of the most expensive and scandalously corrupt spectacles in sports history, but no one has had the courage to probe what happened. The list was too fat.

When Obasanjo attempted to change the Constitution to run for a third term, another list of 'fat ones' also came out. Though very well funded, the bid failed because Obasanjo's ambition was a bridge too far. However, as the elections of 2007 approached, all politicians that had an eye on the presidency also drew up their own list of 'fat ones'. Peter Odili's 'fat list' was so fat that people talk about it till this day.

Sadly, because of the near total erosion of moral and ethical values in Nigeria today, having one's name on any list of 'fat ones', no matter how greasy or odious, is a thing of pride and a badge of honour, or evidence of one's importance and power. Just look at how 'fat' the names on the Halliburton, Siemens, fuel subsidy scam and the Malabu oil scandals are.

In essence, Nigeria is not broke, but running a government by lottery where the treasury is a permanent El Gordo for the elite - Northern or Southern - who make the list.Salisu Suleiman

I Miss My Dad .. An Amazing Role Mode ( Ejeta J.O ) 1954-2005 12th of December

In a perfect world,
death would never be.
Love would be forever,
and last eternally.
In a perfect world,
you’d still be by our side,
lighting up our happy lives.
You never would have died.
When your loving heart stopped beating,
We were gathered round you weeping.
No wishes for you to stay,
To watch you weaken day by day.
We could all see quite clearly,
Though such courage, your body weary.
Once a man so lithe and strong,
Letting you go couldn't be wrong.
Though the pain cuts very deep,
Many tears we've yet to weep.
Thank god we were all there that day,
And Surrounded by our love you slipped away.
With perfect peace and such calm,
This will be our healing balm.
If everyone had a father
Who was more like you,
There'd be more laughing, joy and singing;
Fewer people would be blue.
The whole world would be blessed,
Just as I am blessed with you.
Dad, some days I hear your voice
and turn to see your face;
Yet in my turning...it seems
the sound has been erased.
who will I turn to for answers
when life does not make sense;
Who will be there to hold me close
when the pieces just don't fit.
Oh, Dad, if I could turn back time
and once more hear your voice;
I'd tell you that out of all the dads
you would still be my choice.
Please always know I love you
and no one can take your place;
Years may come and go
but your memory will never be erased Time will turn
But without hands.
If I could write a story
It would be the greatest ever told
Of a kind and loving father
Who had a heart of gold
If could write a million pages
But still be unable to say, just how
Much I love and miss him
Every single day
I will remember all he taught me
I'm hurt but won't be sad
‘coz he'll send me down.
I love you now
As I did back then
I just hope... one day
I will see you again
I am so proud of you
Brave and strong to the end
Now when asked “how are you?”
There is no need to pretend
Thank you, Dad, for being the loving father you were, for all you have given me, for being there for me
I love you with all my heart

Chidinma Says Her Alleged S*x Tape Took Her Career To Another Level

You all remember the s*x tape that leaked a couple of weeks ago, with a girl that look so much like Chidinma aka Mz Kedike?!?

Well, in a recent interview with Punch, the songstress shared certain things about her career so far, scandal and other things surrounding her rise to fame.

Check out some excerpts from the interview below;

You eventually came into the spotlight and it opened doors to controversies and scandals…

I have been in the news lately. My manager told me that I am a balloon on top of lots of needles. People want me to drop on those needles and get deflated. He told me to be careful. The first time was when my unclad picture went viral. I actually went for a photo shoot for my friend. I wore a tube dress. Some mischief makers actually cropped off the lower part of the picture and posted it on the Internet. It was as if I was unclad. I wasn’t happy at all. I had that picture. I had to post the real picture on the net and people now got convinced the unclad picture wasn’t original. I thought that was the end, I didn’t know a bigger scandal was coming…

You mean the s*x video?

Oh yes. I woke up one morning and I was greeted on the internet with ‘Chidinma and s*x tape’. I was worried primarily because of my mother. I didn’t let her see the video but I had to show her the photos. I didn’t want to go out that day. I couldn’t go out. But my mum felt otherwise. She told me to ignore the mischief makers. I almost took some actions but I thought against it. I met Sound Sultan on a set. He told me, ‘Babe, you are now a star. I welcome you officially into the industry.’ I trended for three days. Even people who didn’t know me got to know me. My fan base grew. And then, I was happy because more than 90 per cent of the public didn’t believe I was the one in that video. There were people who didn’t need to see the video to believe I couldn’t have done such thing. I am just grateful to everyone who didn’t believe the story. My twitter account was hacked and the people created another account. They kept releasing nasty pictures and they were even responding to the tweets as if I was the one doing it. I was just watching and laughing. It put me in the spotlight. I used it for good.

But such scandal shouldn’t be good for your career…

Ever since I started, I have been scared of scandals. I didn’t want to have any. But I realised that I cannot run away from it. It is just normal. It is not everybody who is happy seeing me rise. Some people are trying to do something to stop me. But s*x tape is not enough to stop me. They should bring up something else. The s*x tape just took me to another level in my career. It moved me up. This is no more ‘little’ Chidinma. It didn’t bring me down in any way. I am still doing a lot of things.

One of the Skuki boys said he is in love with you and would want to marry you…

Oh yes. Everybody wants to marry me but I am not ready for marriage.

But the boy came out publicly and declared his love for you…

I laughed when I saw that story. I have not considered his request. I still have to make more money before I consider marriage. He is actually my friend and he never told me something like that. I have been linked with so many people. People cannot imagine me being a saint. They are just looking for something to attach to me.

Bonds: When Receivables Are Not Recevable

Surety bond underwriting involves many elements, and
financial analysis is always one of them. In this newsletter,
let's look at a single element, an important one, and how
you can influence the effect it has on bonding decisions.

Accounts Receivable "A/R" are the funds owed by outside
parties to the company for work it has performed. This is a
Current Asset and is part of Net Worth. Active contractors
always have such money due them.
The number can be
significant for firms in a growth mode. Problem: Sometimes
bond underwriters discount, or disallow part of this figure,
thus reducing the applicants recognized financial strength
and bond worthiness. Why does this happen and how can
you influence the outcome?

One reason for such assets to be disallowed is the age of
the individual receivable on the fiscal year-end (FYE)
financial statement date. In order to be conservative, A/Rs
that are 90 days old or more "over 90" are assumed to be
uncollectable, and therefore are disallowed. (Key word:
Assumed)

Same with receivables arising from change orders that are
unapproved or in dispute. Projects with performance
problems may have all payments held up by the owner, and
therefore related A/Rs may be disallowed. In fact,
receivables may be discounted if there is a dramatic
increase over historic levels, even if there is no apparent
reason to doubt the collectability of the funds.

When A/Rs are disallowed the Working Capital calculation
suffers as well as the ratio analysis.

This can reduce or eliminate the contractors bonding line.

Here are some possible cures.

Retainages - A/Rs over 90 days old may be acceptable if
they are actually Retainage which is slightly different from a
true "trade receivable." Identify if any of the A/Rs are
actually Retainages. They should be separated from the A/R
analysis and "allowed."

Over 90s - Older A/Rs are allowable if they were
subsequently collected (no matter how old they became.)
Ask the client or accountant for an update regarding the
collection of year-end receivables. All collected items are
included in the financial strength analysis. The underwriter
should be updated if they are eventually collected at a
future date. The client will be penalized for a disallowed A/
Rs for 12-15 months after the fiscal date. Updating the file
when funds come in could help achieve a bond approval
any time during this period.

Change Orders - The same concept applies to COs no
longer in dispute or project issues that are resolved. All A/
Rs that are ultimately collected are allowed, regardless of
how late they occur.
Payment Bond - If our client is a subcontractor, there may
be a Payment Bond "above them" available for claim. An
over 90 A/R might be allowed based on the existence of this
safety net.

Caution: If an aged schedule of year-end A/Rs is produced
at a subsequent date, items that were not over 90 at FYE
(but remain open) may now may be old and therefore
disallowed! It works both ways.

Conclusion

The financial analysis associated with surety bond
underwriting is primarily focused on the fiscal year-end
financial condition of the company. These numbers drive
the bond line until the next FS is issued - normally about 15
months.

The receivable collection is an ongoing process that
warrants interpretation and monitoring because of its
changing nature.
